Care of Mouth after Extraction
  • Keep gauze in place for 20 minutes as directed.
  • Bleeding: following extractions, some bleeding may be expected. If persistent bleeding occurs, place gauze pads or a wet tea bag over bleeding area and bite down firmly for one-half hour. Repeat if necessary.
  • Pain: for mild to average pain use any over-the-counter type of medication you usually take.
  • Ice cold fluids are highly recommended today. No straws and No tobacco.
  • Soft, cool diet is advisable during the first 24 hours.
